What It’s All About

The word agape is a Greek word. It means the kind of love God has for every one of us -- free, unconditional, no-strings-attached. We don't have to -- in fact, we can't -- earn God's love. It's already here for every one of us.

All we have to do is to open our hands, our minds, our hearts to that love and receive it.

That's what Camp Agape is all about -- receiving God's great love -- from the beauty of God's creation, from the love of counselors and staff, from our fellow campers, and, yes, from ourselves.

New friends, great food, games, chapel times, crafts, swimming, hikes, fishing, star-gazing -- and God's love. Come! Join us!

Camp Agape offered its first camp -- for 25 children -- in August, 2006.  In August, 2007 we had 49 campers (13 returnees) from 22 Vermont towns, part of a growing network of similar camps throughout the United States. In 2010 we hope to have 80 campers including a special program for 10 children 12-14, who’ve been to Camp Agape before.
Our purpose
is to provide a free week of Christian camping for children ages 7-11 who have a parent under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.
Our goal
is to help campers discover deep within themselves their essence and core of goodness.
